August, Blue

August is a small medallion from the late 19th century. The stylized and framed rhombuses were particularly popular during this era. The wallpaper industry flourished at that time, and wallpapers became a common sight in homes. It is not uncommon to come across several layers of wallpapers from this period. Our August was found as one of the many layers of wallpaper in the hallway of a small cottage.
